LV HOUSE
Milan, Italien
From the beginning, the client’s wish was to preserve the original materials of the apartment from the early 20th century, while creating a floor plan that would allow for a more flexible and contemporary distribution of the rooms, without creating clear divisions between them, so that each room could merge into the others. In this way, ‘carpets’ made of the original materials are inserted into an aseptic white concrete box to enhance their aesthetic value and define functional spaces such as the kitchen and
sofa placement. When the sliding doors of the kitchen area are opened, the customer can walk through the entire house lengthwise and enjoy an architectural promenade through the various rooms, from the sleeping area to the living area. Old portals that had been walled up over time were reopened to connect the different rooms and offer ever-changing views and perspectives of the house.
The warmth of the materials and textures contrasts with the white micro-cement floor, giving a sense of great personality to the wooden volume of the living area, where the service bathroom and the technical part for the entertainment are housed, and to the continuous kitchen box, made of steel and oak. During the selection of the furniture, the decision was made in favour of iconic designer pieces, which are further enhanced by their arrangement on Material “Carpets”.
