District School Bramfeld

More than a century after the original construction of the Bramfeld district school and several conversions, it was time for a comprehensive refurbishment including the addition of a new break hall. The aim of the careful transformation was to preserve the historic building fabric and at the same time create contemporary learning and meeting spaces.
The existing break hall was converted into a canteen with a vitality kitchen, while the new break hall serves as a social center. Particular emphasis was placed on preserving the characteristic brick façades and the existing structure. The color and material concept is based on the architecture of the 1950s and 1960s and combines the existing and new buildings into a harmonious ensemble. Inside, bright and open rooms have been created, while the art gallery in the walkways provides space for the students' works.
The redesign of the outdoor facilities and the existing structures will turn the Bramfeld district school into a lively center of the district - open to students, teachers and the neighborhood.
